What is an OTT TV Box?

OTT stands for “over-the-top,” the term used for the delivery of video, audio, and other

multimedia content via the internet without being governed by a traditional cable or

satellite operator that controls the distribution of the content. An OTT tv box is the

hardware device, which in this situation, replaces the traditional “set top” cable or

satellite box with a device that allows the content to be streamed directly to a TV or

display device. The most popular OTT tv boxes normally operate on the Android

operating system extending the capabilities of the device even more by adding the

ability to install and run applications that can be downloaded and installed from any

location including app stores like the Google Play Store.
